Why it was classified
The footage was captured by a sensor whose resolution and slew rate are themselves classified capabilities; the imagery had to be degraded before release.
Why it matters
It is one of the first cases where the Pentagon released both the video and its own resolution reasoning, letting the public grade the government's homework.
